Mothers Day 10Six Lehigh Valley Aging in Place volunteers went to ManorCare in Bethlehem and hosted games, crafts and spent time with the women there in honor of mother's day.

One of the important committees at LVAIP is the Volunteer Committee headed by Brandy Padilla. The volunteers coordinate quarterly events to help the elderly in the community. Recent events included a Valentine's Day event at YWCA Adult Day Center (February 2018) and Wreathes Across America event (December 2017) at Cedar Hill Memorial Cemetary.

The Volunteers are planning a summer event and will be helping out at the Slate Belt Senior Games. To learn more or get involved with volunteering with LVAIP in the community contact Brandy. Many thanks to her and her committee for their commitment to giving time to our seniors!

L50picSince 2006, Lifestyles over 50 has published a monthly magazine and annual senior resource directory for boomers, seniors and caregivers in the Lehigh Valley. Through the years, Lifestyles over 50 has worked with health and senior care clients on a regional level with marketing services ranging from web design, video production, content creating, strategy consulting and related services. Numerous Lifestyles over 50 clients in the greater Philadelphia area requested publisher Jeff Tintle to consider bringing Lifestyles over 50 to the Bucks and Montgomery County area.

In June 2016, the summer issue of Lifestyles over 50 Buxmont will be available. The publication will print quarterly and offer a comprehensive listing for senior services like senior living, home care, adult day services and more. Additionally, there will be lifestyle articles, games, puzzles and a calendar of events.

Professionals who work in the health and senior care industry use Lifestyles over 50 because it is the most comprehensive, local resource to give to patients and clients. Lifestyles over 50 is distributed to social workers, discharge planners, elder care attorneys, financial planners, realtors, pastoral care staff, and other trusted advisors.

The 2018 Expo was the second annual senior expo that the Lehigh Valley Aging in Place Coaltion hosted. The event was a success for LVAIP achieving our strategic goals of helping seniors, promoting our message and increasing collaboration amoung professionals. The board would like to thank Maria Santacoloma and Frank DeRosa for their hard work on the event -- its success is due to their efforts!

As a person reaches a point in life - due to age or early disability -- where walking up and down stairs becomes difficult, the benefits of a power stair lift are more obvious: The lift can move a person up and down stairs. But there are other benefits, as well. A power stair lift:

  1. Reduces the risk of falling. A power stair lift can be installed proactively -- while the person is still able to maneuver on stairs. However, most stair lifts are ordered when people are in the hospital or a rehabilitation facility and cannot return to a home with multiple levels. When it is physically impossible for a person to get up and down the stairs, a stair lift isn't just a preventative measure, but a necessity.
  2. Gives peace of mind to the caregiver or family member.
